Many of the world’s leading companies, such as MTV and the Bank of America, are already realizing benefits from the adoption of these technologies. The paper focuses on five specific ways in which SharePoint Products and Technologies can save you money. When you adopt SharePoint Products and Technologies in your organization, you can: • Reduce IT costs and complexity • Reduce development costs • Simplify management and training • Improve employee productivity • Enhance the effectiveness of customer service and sales teams

  • Microsoft has made available four sample master page sets compatible with the Application Templates for Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 to showcase some of the customization options master pages provide.

Master pages are a feature of ASP.NET 2.0 that work the same way in Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 as they do in ASP.NET 2.0. Using master pages, you can create a single page template and then use that template as the basis for multiple pages in an application, instead of having to build each new page from scratch.

Microsoft has made available a package of sample master pages compatible with the Application Templates for Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 to showcase some of the customization options master pages provide. The master pages were built using new CSS and Master Page editing tools within Microsoft Office SharePoint Designer 2007.

Gespeichert unter: Sharepoint, Tips, Tricks, Hacks — by murratore @ 10:51

  • I have spent the past month working on the creation of Mind Map templates for the major architectural components in SharePoint. As I have shown them to people, there has been tremendous excitement about using them for developing site plans during brainstorming sessions.

  • Over the last few months I’ve been helping to contribute to an ASP.NET MVC book that Scott Hanselman, Rob Conery, and Phil Haack have been writing for Wrox. The book is now in production, and will be available to buy in stores soon (you can pre-order it on Amazon today).

I wrote the first chapter of the book – which is a 185 page end-to-end tutorial that walks-through building a small, but complete, ASP.NET MVC application from scratch. The agreement I made with Wrox was that I’d write it for free in return for them also making it available as a free PDF download.

I’m excited to announce that you can now download this free end-to-end tutorial chapter (it is a 14mb PDF file). It’s licensed under a “Creative Commons Attribution No Derivatives” license – which means you can share, distribute, print, or hand it out to anyone.

SharePoint Designer wird Free Software

Gespeichert unter: Sharepoint, Software, 3-Hersteller — by murratore @ 7:11

Microsoft hat angekündigt, dass ab 1. April der SharePoint Designer für Kunden von MOSS und WSS (!) gratis verfügbar und nutzbar ist.

http://blogs.msdn.com/mattbremer/archive/2009/03/26/sharepoint-designer-available-as-free-download-after-4-1-09.aspx

“One of the key aspects of the SharePoint value proposition is its ability to support customized solutions built on our platform. Our strategy is to facilitate the creation of these customizations and allow our customers to make the most of their overall investments in SharePoint. Based on the feedback from our customers, we are making SharePoint Designer 2007 available as a free download to all customers of SharePoint and Windows SharePoint Services products. This change takes effect on April 1, 2009. It is important to note that SharePoint Designer 2007 is NOT going end-of-life. The future release of SharePoint Designer will be released simultaneously with the next release of the next version of SharePoint. In addition, customers on SA will be granted rights to Expression Web.”
